Plug Me In Project, Wiebe Wakker - 08 April 2019
Join us for an evening with keynote speaker Wiebe Wakker, the Dutchman who drove from the Netherlands to Sydney in an electrical car, travelling without money and relying on the kindness of people to "plug him in".
Plug Me In is a purpose-driven adventure with the aim to inspire, educate and accelerate the transition to a zero carbon future. Wiebe started his journey on March 2016, driving from the Netherlands to Sydney in an electric car, the Blue Bandit, with a mission to proof the viability of sustainable mobility.
Wiebe’s project Plug Me In is based on the collaboration between people. Everyone could contribute by offering him a meal, place to sleep or electricity for the car. He received 1,800 offers from 45 countries around the world and this made him zigzagging around the world, crossing 33 countries on electricity.
On Sunday the 7th of April Wiebe will finish his epic journey at the Royal Botanic Garden. That day he has been on the road for 1,119 days and driven 95,000km, this makes his journey the longest ever in an electric car.
On Monday evening the 8th of April he will be giving a presentation about why he has been doing this, the challenges he encountered and he will share some memorable highlights.
