Annerie van Maarschalkerweerd
Director
'You can take the Dutch girl out of Holland but you can't take Holland out of the girl..'
Annerie finished her High school in The Netherlands , did a French language course in Paris, went on to study a year at Schoevers followed by graduating at the Hotel Management School in Amsterdam. During that time she also looked after dutch students in Austria during a couple of winters as a 'Reiseleiterin' for NBBS Student Travel. This is where she got her first taste for everything Australia as there were many Aussies working alongside her.
After that it seemed only natural that Annerie applied for a job with KLM as a 'Summer Stewardess ' so in this capacity she arrived in Sydney for the 1st time in the early 1980's. She not only fell in love with the place but also with an Aussie and moved permanently in June '84.
One of her first jobs was with the Airport Hilton as a Hostess in the Summerhouse, their Signature restaurant followed by a position with KLM in their city office.
Her love for travel and the need to remain close to her family and friends back home made her decide to apply for a job with Qantas, the Australian Airline. And so since February 1986 Annerie has been employed as an International BFA Flight Attendant, which frequently brings her back to Holland.
Currently she combines this with her consultancy job for Exclusive Relocation - a small, boutique company, that specialises in relocation and home search services in Sydney and Melbourne.
Annerie was, while living in The Netherlands, a very active hockey player. She was the goalie for Dames 1 of the Larense Mixed Hockey Club. She continued playing in Sydney for a while, started up the Dutch Mixed-Social Hockey Afternoon's and was a driving force in sending teams representing Australia to the ZOAT Hockey Tournaments which takes place once a year in Asia.
Her passion, expertise and enthusiasm for all kind of sports will be of good use in her role as Dutchlink Board member.
