Wednesday 4.40 pm . Placed a call to the Dutch Consulate requesting help in moving a parcel of books from the Netherlands to Australia. The books, large print versions donated by a Dutch library, were intented for the residents of the Dutch Retirement Village Abel Tasman at Chester Hill. Received from the Consulate a potential helper’s name and email address. 4.50 pm. Left a message with the Australian contact of the Dutch library to enquire about the actual number of books and the weight involved. Thursday 8.00 am Received a phone call and email message from the contact stating 64 books and 40 kgs weight. 10.20 am Sent email to the potential helper stating case and particulars and seeking assistance. 10.27 am Receive response from helper stating assistance will be provided and details requested of Dutch library. 11.22 am Supply the necessary details to the helper by email. 11.39 am Receive email from helper providing details of where the goods are to be delivered in the Netherlands. 4.35 pm Australian contact sends email to Dutch library providing despatch details and with Dutch helper contact details. 4.50 pm Dutch library contacts local helper contact. 11.04 pm Goods, two boxes of books, are picked up from the library with an expectation of a Sydney delivery on Tuesday next!.
